Live Enzymes & Raw Food Diet

I recently watched a video clip of a demo showing the pineapple stem which contains the highest nutrients and also the core which holds an abundance of bromelain being the focus of a blended smoothie. Yes, you are correct if you are thinking digestive enzyme when you see the word "bromelain" because that part of the pineapple is used in the supplement. Does it now make sense that you would be eating fresh pineapple as an appetizer for improved nutrition?

The fine folk at Blind Guru have this to say about the stem which contains 90 per cent of the enzymes and nutrition compared to the pineapple fleshy parts: “I blend the stem up first and then put the flesh in as blended pineapple tends to get foamy if you blend it up all at once. Also, I blend the pineapple core too. That is where all the cellulose fiber is that most people throw away. Sometimes I just blend the stem and the core with 1 cup of water when I don’t want to eat the sugar from the flesh. I actually save the flesh for a nice snack for later.” Interesting knowing how some people approach their diet, isn’t it?

With a passion for understanding the human condition as it relates to food, I’m rather intrigued by how a live enzyme diet can greatly assist a person to become in tune with what their bodies tell them. Emotional eating and common-place food cravings are the norm in society. Whether a person admits to having an eating disorder or not, I see the eye markings in the sclera for emotional stomach in the majority of people. Interestingly enough, people who maintain a diet which satisfies their body, seem the least likeliest to experience cravings. Most people think that if a food tastes good it is good for them which explains why so many have become processed food addicts. Studies show that somewhere around age 5 we lose our discriminatory tendencies and sensors such as recognizing that our stomachs are full so that we don’t over-eat. Few people today report calm stomachs and regular bowel movements – rather it’s the opposite with irritable bowel being commonplace.

Some of you have been hearing me speak about Victoria Boutenko concerning the topic of her famous green fruit smoothies promoted in the 12 Steps to Raw Food book. She is a well-respected researcher who educates audiences world-wide about how we simply can’t chew the leafy greens in our salads down to the appropriate cellular level. If our bodies cannot digest all the phytochemicals that are locked inside the cell structure, we have to settle for less. And juicing apparently does not unlock the phytochemicals found in the fiber either.

A lot of attention has been given to the subject of green smoothies. You may even have seen Dr. Oz and Oprah sampling green smoothies on the Oprah Show last week. How are they different than regular fruit smoothies? Basically, the blended drink is prepared with 40% leafy green vegetables such as kale, Swiss chard or spinach, and the remainder is fresh ripened fruit with juice or water. If you drink two cups per day of this highly assimilatable liquid formula, the energy and vitality you will notice could be your turning point. I sincerely believe that you will be very pleased with the end result.

I have incorporated Victoria’s recipes in my new menu planners and have also created some of my own live enzyme recipes with plans of going one step further and developing blended liquid food programs which factor in the super foods outlined in Dr. Peter D’Adamo’s Eat Right 4 Your Type as well as various herbs and food in powder or liquid form which can be added in a custom-tailored approach matching people’s preferences and nutritional needs. Before I can walk you further along this path (as I run a few steps ahead and clear the forestry of confusion and misinformation), we have to be educated about the tools that are required to achieve this.

I expect that for many people, bumping up the amount of live enzymes in the diet will be the starting point for achieving so much more energy that it’s bound to be have other positive influences such as motivating you to pursue new life-enriching hobbies (instead of work, work, work) or dump bad habits and replace them with healthier choices . . . whatever the case may be . . . it’s all about quality of life. A person either chooses to better themselves and see what there is to gain or take a pass. I hope you will choose the former.
