2nd Workshop: Holiday Stress Over? Think again!
Saturday, January 31st, 2 - 4 p.m.
The best way to approach the topic of
stress, particularly holiday stress, is gently with a sense of
humour, hence our provocative
workshop title.
:o) On a
serious note, this workshop, on the topic of
Stress and Pain Management,
will be packed full of extremely useful information meant to truly
enlighten and inspire you towards embarking on a new path,
a new beginning for 2009.
The workshop facilitator is Debra
Taylor, Clinical Director of the London Laser Health Care
Centre.
Click here to read Debra's bio.
Debra will
explore and compare several methods for
managing the negative effects of stress. Participants will learn
what stress is, what happens to our body under stress, and most
importantly, how to reduce the negative effects on the body and
mind using age-old techniques as well as modern methods.
For example,
applied low-level laser therapy
can deliver energy to cells and tissues to
rejuvenate and restore function. Think of a battery being
re-charged -- laser therapy re-energizes depleted cells and
tissues. In the process, inflammation issues can be resolved, pain
relieved and the immune system boosted.
We'll begin by
exploring various relaxation techniques aimed at preventing stress
in the first place. The group will be taken through an
experiential exercise. At the
London Laser Health Care Centre,
Debra helps people with self-hypnosis, guided meditation, etc. as
adjuncts to the laser and biofeedback services she provides in
weight loss programs and smoking cessation or other
addiction-related programs. She also promotes a healthy diet and
will speak about
natural foods and supplements that are stress-busters. And Debra
will give an overview of holistic services that are available to
enhance coping skills.
The second part
of the workshop will cover the difference between acute and
chronic pain. We'll delve into how pharmaceutical intervention
compares with natural treatment methods including acupuncture,
laser, aromatherapy, meditation and self-hypnosis.

that are depleted when taking certain types of medication. It's a
real eye opener and clearly, a motivator to find healthy
alternatives and also to achieve nutritional balance through
supplementation.

Stress & Pain Management workshop

or
